My Mission In Life

My mission in life is to educate, plant seeds for awarness, bring warmth and laughter, and create in order to bring acceptance not tolerance.

My Job

Full time Student, Call Center Rep

My Hobbies

I love to create. I either paint, draw, color, sing a song I made up to make me laugh, or write and I love to write. I find time to write even though I am so busy, if not I would lose the little bit of me I am clinging to.

Inspiration

I find inspiration in many things. The terrace in my new apartment is my favorite place to collect inspiration. There, I could find inspiration in just about everything from the weather to my favorite tree that reminds me of one of my favorite hang out spots in Berkeley.

About Me

I am going through a transition period and actually have done a lot of growning since I first consciously decided to do some deep examining of my life. About two years ago, I decided to look at my life and where I was going if I kept on doing what I was doing and if that was really where I wanted to go. Since then I have raised my GPA and finally finishing up my last school year. I have been blessed to experience much needed growth. Now I am doing what brings me happiness. I major in English and African American Studies and I am pushing to be published soon. But I know that I could still have my pieces read and enjoyed without being seriously published so thats what I do now besides going to school and working. I just started focusing on the health of my body and treating it properly. But this path I have chosen to take has been one of pure beauty because of all the things I have discovered.

Movies & Documentaries

Dead Presidents, To Wong Fu, Spike Lee Joints, Badasss, The Spook Who Sat By The Door, Love Jones, among other things that I can't remember at the moment.

Favorite Books

The Black Rose, The Blank Panthers Speaks, The Coldest Winter Ever, Boy Soldier (I think that's the name), Cupcake Brown, African American Literature Anthology (from my African American Lit class) this is my favorite Anthology and I have been building my library using it as my shopping list.

Creative Writing

Mawiyah Kai EL-Jamah Bomani

My studies have been great! I have found, that by keeping my heart to the core of creative writing , It has allowed me to keep pushing forward with my goals of creating books of poetry and writing plays. My ultimate goal is to be able to teach a prose course at one of the universities in the city where I live. I'd even prefer an online course. I like flexibility and the ability to be able to keep doing my personal writing.
