Can someone help me....I have something going on with me and I can not seem to shake it. I choose not to use the word addiction, as there are worse things I could be "addicted" to. But I must have, find the need to have, can consume so much in one day addiction to SUGAR!!! I need the sweet....and I am trying really hard to replace my chocolate cravings with fruit, my need for a cupcake with a fresh squeezed glass of juice...but to no avail....."It ain't working".
So ladies I appeal to you, to those of you who know what I speak of, please give me an alternative. I have a recipe for vegan chocolate cake that I make, just so I can get my sugar fix!! Maybe there is something going on within my body, that is tryingt to tell me something, maybe the need is greater than sugar...if anyone knows what it is....please tell me.
So Sisters, any help/advice/suggestions/recipes you can give would be greatly appreciated!!
Be Blessed!
I never thought about it that way?!
Thank you Ladies so much for all of your suggestions. I thought that my desires other than for food were in check...but if I give a closer look maybe they aren't?! So I am checking all aspects of my life, to find out what I am really craving!! You all have been so helpful and I really appreciate it!

Sweetness
When I am eating a lot of sugar I realize I need some "sweetness" in my life. Maybe it is time to tend to your desires??? If not, try to eat more green things... I have also found that being on a parasite cleanse is helpful - not saying you have them (although, we all get them) but the herbs (walnut tinture, wormwood and cloves) seem to help with heavy sugar cravings. Cut out bread, all white flour products, any sugars except for fruit - even natural sugar is still sugar...
Hope this helps...

interesting info
the following excerpt found here http://dherbs.com/blog/2007/04/16/why-women-are-so-sick/
might be able to answer your questions that aren't related to finding sugar substitutions.
peace
"...psychologically, sugar is linked to love or sweetness, and most women today are not being truly or genuinely loved. Life is not sweet. They are not getting enough “sugah” or “sugar” in their lives, especially from their male counterparts, on the job, in society, etc. Even in their relationships based upon pseudo-love, it is a “love” that comes with abuse and assault, deception, infidelity (affairs/adultery), etc., that's why I say pseudo-love because you can't get these negative things from genuine and true love. In many cases it's delusional love - the need to be attached to someone else at any cost.
Due to the lack of sugar or sweetness (love, compassion) in their daily lives, American women are seeking out synthetic variations of sweetness that are very harmful to their health. Many women are quick to consume Equal, NutraSweet, or outright aspartame and/or saccharine which both cause cancer, but women don't care, most of them, they just want something sweet - the coffee, the beverage, or whatever. They just want the sugar (synthetic love). So affection is being replaced with confectionaries (candy)."
some good substitutes...
it's great that you're using fruit to help out...i find that takes care of most of my sugar cravings.
for sweetening foods/drinks, try turbinado sugar (e.g. http://www.sugarintheraw.com/), honey, and agave nectar instead of white sugar. also, when you're buying food/drinks, look for things that have been sweetened w/ these instead of corn syrup.
chewing licorice root might also help...it's good for you in many ways, but it also contains natural sugars.
an herbalist recently told me that chocolate cravings = need for magnesium and other minerals/nutrients that can also be found in dark green, leafy veggies. try upping your intake of spinach, kale, collards, etc. & see if the cravings subside.
good luck!!
