I'm very new to the path of the Orisas, and as Osun's day, Sept. 8th approaches, I'm trying to come up with ways to honor her presence and blessings in my life. If anyone doesn't mind sharing, is there anything special you do on Osun's day?

What a great post!!
I'm a beginning student of Ifa and the Orishas as well. Sistah, could you provide the dates to honor the other Orishas? I haven't had a reading as of yet but I feel a connection to Yemonja. Thanks in advance.

Ore Ye-Ye O!
You can celebrate Osun in several different ways. I’ve made a ritual of everything from a quite night of shrine work to getting really fly and hanging out with the girls, making sure to laugh and smile and give thanks for being alive.
On the evenings that I chose to venerate Osun, I take a bath with a bit of Florida water, a few sprinkles of cinnamon, honey and sunflower petals, light a yellow candle at the foot of the tub and just allowed myself to relax.
(To top things off I use Honey I Washed the Kids soap by Lush Cosmetics - http://usa.lush.com/cgi-bin/lushdb/00482?expand=Bath)
After my bath I prepare a plate of five oranges covered with honey, placed the candle on the shrine and mediated for a while. Sometimes, if I need help, I’ll write a petition on parchment / or brown paper as part of the meditation. under serious circumstances I placed the candle, offering and petition by the head of the bed as I sleep and take the whole offering to the riverbed.
Hope this helps - and congrats on your move! so proud of you!
offerings
Peace,
I never did anything special on Sept 8th, but now I will. However, I try to go see her at least once a month at the river and leave offerings.
You can go to the river and leave offerings such as honey (make sure u taste it first), 5 cinnamon sticks, 5 yelllow flowers, cake, 5 pennies, 5 oranges, etc.
To make sure your communication with Osun is well recieved you can leave a cigar or rum for Elegba first, so he may open the way.
