Hello does anyone know anything about adult acne. I am in my early thirties and suffering from acne, I have the occasional cystic break- out what is the cause of it ?and does anyone know of a remedy.
Please help, some say it is diet, stress or hormonal. I tried a number of remedies that do not work.
I've struggled with severe
I've struggled with severe acne myself, I'm twenty six now and it cleared up about 2 years ago. I started breaking out in the 4th grade so I've tried almost everything under the sun! I agree with what the other sisters said, water makes all the difference, especially if you add lemon because that helps cleanse your system, plenty of physical activity and rest helps too, along with living foods, and there are a couple things to cut back on if you have sensitive skin: dairy and heavily processed soy. I know it's different for everyone but those wreaked havoc on my skin.
I know products aren't the end all be all, but there are a couple I really like: Origins makes an active charcoal mask that works wonders. Even if you're not breaking out, it you put it on once a week your skin just glows :)
And Aubrey organics makes a great and very affordable natural skin care line that's amazing. And you can actually identify all the ingredients on the back of the bottle! They have different lines for oily skin, dry skin, etc.
And lastly, Simplers makes an amazing essential oil tincture called Acne Aid. It's a tiny bottle and seems pricey (14 bucks) but any zit I do have is gone really quick with just a couple dabs. A little goes a long way. Simplers and Aubrey are easy to find at any kind of natural health store.
Sugar and wheat?
My sistren recently told me that she cut wheat and sugar out of her diet and her skin never looked so glowing and beautiful in her life.... I am in the beginning stages of trying this diet-change out.. We'll see how it goes..
know thyself, love thyself... these are the keys to mental and spiritual liberation! Let's get healed!

Clearing Acne
Resting is such a crucial time for your skin to heal itself.
Astroblack said the above statement. I'm in agreeement with the water and living foods. I've found that going to bed early and waking up early causes my skin to be the clearest. I normally hit the sack at around 9:30/10 and I'm up by 5 or 5:30. During this time, its still quiet and I can move around slowly. When your stress levels are down and you operate in peace, from the very start of your day, it will show in your skin. I also do yoga...and pray, and eat healthy. I use a pure vitamin e soap that helps to clear up old scaring. But pray...yes pray....God can do all things, even clear up your skin. Peace be upon you. Djenaba

Oil Cleansing
Hey Sis,
I am in my 30's and had (have?) acne. I ran across an article called the oil cleansing method (http://beauty-treatments.suite101.com/article.cfm/the_oil_cleansing_meth...) and have been doing that for the last 4 months now @ night in the mornings I use african black soap followed by a little of the oil blend massaged into the clean skin. My skin has cleared up tremendously, and even the blemishes from old acne are fading. I do get one or two spots from time to time but nothing as extreme as I used to have. I myself am a pescetarian (striving to be vegan) I don't use sugar, drink min of 2 ltrs of water daily, hardly eat fried foods, no fizzie drinks or sweet drinks, no chocolate except for dark 70% chocolate and still I used to break out. I think once you are acne prone you will get acne regardless (more water does help to heal acne faster) of what you eat/drink. I've also heard real good things about using baking soda as a mask and exfoliator have yet to try it myself but a lot of ladies (on nappturality) could not do without anymore. Here is a thread from the acne forum about it: http://www.acne.org/baking-soda-reviews/209/page1.html
I have another link for you for a free booklet on african healing skincare remedies: http://www.africaimports.com/catalogs/skincarebook.pdf
Hope this helps! Keep us posted!

AstroBlack said it so well...
I also deal with adult acne... and it is a constant wonder to me why. I often think I do not drink enough water, and I like sugar too much. It's very true: More water and live foods is a key. Also, I am a strong believer that everything that manifests outside of us is a result of what's going on within (ie- acne, colds, rashes, etc). So it's very important to strive for a stress-free life filled with joy and most importantly, calmness and self-nurturing.
I'm working on different methods for myself and my acne issue, so you're definetly not the only one!
Verily for the righteous shall be a fulfillment of all the heart's desires.
Hi... maybe you've heard all this before...
I don't know remedies, but I know good practices. Remedies may only help once you can pinpoint the cause. It could be one of those things or a combination. You really will just have to play around with different things and make adjustments to your lifestyle. Then, be very patient (it can take months to see true results).
You've probably heard em all before, but just in case...
Drink water, drink water, drink water and avoid processed foods. Water and living foods will benefit your skin regardless of the cause. The mucus found in dairy foods are major culprits in skin congestion, so you may want to cut back on dairy, if you eat it, or cut it out completely. The same goes for sugar. I know it's not the case for every one. There are plenty girls who eat the worst foods and have the most beautiful skin on the planet. But a better diet can't hurt.
Do things and eat things that will stimulate the lymphatic system and your kidneys and liver, so that your skin is in a constant and optimal healing process. Cleanse your liver and kidneys with detoxifying teas. By keeping your kidneys & liver healthy, your skin won't have to filter out waste. And sleep well, and take time to rest throughout the day. Resting is such a crucial time for your skin to heal itself.
Experiment with different clays, organic tea tree oil, oatmeal, organic aloe vera gel, live acidophillus cultures, and/or raw honey to make masks. If you think it's hormonal, try a vegan evening primrose oil supplement for a few months.
Whatever you put on your body and in your body is going to be reflected through your skin. Just be conscious that nearly everything can be a factor.
It's all so much easier said than done. And if it's all advice you've heard before, and tried, it can frustrating. I've been battling with acne for thirteen years. Mine changes, but never truly improves. I recently had blood work done to determine whether or not my acne is hormonal or the result of a thyroid irregularity. But I have noticed that the more water I drink, the better my skin looks. The more raw, live foods I consume, the better my skin looks. The more yoga I practice, the better my skin looks.
Hope that helps. Be patient.
