For all of the homeschooling moms out there...I would like to know, what sort of materials do you use during your homeschooling days...do you use textbooks/programs, or do you just go with whatever comes to you to do for the day? I know of many homeschoolers who prefer to use the term unschooling...how dou you define your homeschooling experience?
What has been some of the best resources you have come across thus far for teaching materials?

Re:Homeschooling and Structure
Greetings Fawna,
I use several types of materials. Workbooks, activity books, cd roms, internet sources, life. I also find that selecting subjects as read alouds works great for my girls. Some weeks are planned as far as core lessons. Some days I just do whatever comes to me. If my children asked a question during the week or if I see that they have a curiosity about something, the lesson will be on researching the answer(s) on that day. Once core lessons are over, my children do whatever interest them, read books, play piano, work outside with Daddy, play (a lot),crafts, etc. Our homeschooling experience would be considered eclectic, but I don't label it...it is education not schooling.
Wow, I really enjoy the internet for materials, I have bookmarks galore! I also enjoy using the American Education Publishing books which you can find at Wal Mart. I am thinking about getting a couple of things from Evan Moor. However, overall the internet, because no matter what I am teaching I tie in how we Africans in America fit in and the internet helps with researching that.
Are you considering educating your child at home or are you now?
