I just recently got my first sewing machine and have been having a lot of fun learning how to use it! My sister gave me a bunch of old jeans and I thought it would be a good lesson to learn how to turn em' into skirts. So I took out the inner seams and opened them up and can kinda see how I have to build it up in order to create a skirt. My question - is it a good idea to create a patch work triangle for the middle out of 100% light weight cotton? Has anyone done this kinda project? If I use cotton will it hang right or should I stick to denim? Also, how do you measure the inner triangle so that it hangs well? If anyone here could come forward and share a strength I will give abundant thanks.

I use cotton 95% of the time and it hangs fine. After I take out the seams, I also take out the seams in the crotch are, you know that curve part in the just hang towards the right or left. I stitch that down first, lay it out and then place the fabric underneath it and pin it down. When you flip it to the inside you can cut at least 5/8 away form the edge of the jeans using the pins as your guide. make sure the tip of the triangle is squared off and 5/8 away from the point of the jeans. Once you get both side done, you can serge the side(zig zag) so it don'f frail and then pin it back to the jeans and sew it down. I agree with sis breath of light, please post the demo pics!!! I think it would be very helpful. I decided to create a patchwork triangle. I will back it with heavy cotton and then over that will do numerous patches. I thought I might as well be a little more experimental as that is a good way to improve skill and I think it will be real beautiful. I thought I would add slits on the outside to widen my step... do you think that will work fine? Give thanks for sharing the strength Jahzara. Peace.
Oh and please share a reasoning relative to the rotation of Venus and how it affects Wombman... I would love to hear what both of you feel.
