Robert Greene, in his book The 48 Laws of Power, states that we are constantly altering the patterns we have inherited from previous generations, and these changes are signs of life and vitality. Our fear or avoidance of success and abundance (what I call richer ground) can also be a pattern that we have inherited from past generations.
For many, we started out in the essence of our power. In our youth we showed immense creativity in expressing something new or inventive through unbridled thought and vision. The problem comes later, when we grow conservative and possessive—loyal to the status quo, for the sake of acceptance.
We cease to dream of creating new forms of abundance; our uniqueness became set in the “should,” “shouldn’t” and “ought to” of life; our habits are chiseled in stone; the flow of our power ceases; and we become rigid -- easy targets for mediocrity, and apprehensiveness towards our own success. This is how we forfeit our quality of life--reduced to looking outside ourselves for direction and completeness. I truly believe we all know what we’re purposed to do; we just have to change the restraining patterns that cause us to fear success, rejection and failure in our prayers, desires, choices, and thoughts. What we don’t know is that what God wants from any of us is to make the most of yourself, for yourself and others--we can only do this in the flow of power.
If you want to get back into the flow of your power or you find it unbelievable how anyone could fear or avoid their own success, you need to join me in my next Giving Myself Permission seminar or retreat –- it’s really a decision about your quality of life.
our greatest fear
greetings sis,
this also reminds me of Marian Williamson quote that "our
greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure". And
that our light frightens us more. overcoming the fear of rejection
is a big one.and giving our power away to our peers. once we conquer
this one we commit ourselves to the discipline, work and committment
involved in making our dreams a reality. thanks for sharing.
light,
Lindiwe
