Self Healing Meditation

I think it is safe to say that nearly everyone goes through a point in their life where they feel that they need to re-evaluate their Self position – this could be at times during the Self transition or when we are experiencing a 'rough patch' – and can involve many emotions that surface as signals. Such examples of emotions can be restlessness, uncertainty, feeling low in confidence, in need of grounding.

Sometimes I think we (as individuals) put more pressure on our Self than anyone/anything else, especially in regards to this stage – Are we expected to always feel happy and great? Is it ever ok to feel low or emotionally negative? Do we always need to feel as though we are on top of things – able to go through every challenge with no signs of doubt and looking fabulous?

What if I were to suggest a new approach? Would it be so bad to just accept that this stage is normal and that it is perfectly human to not always feel at our best? Let's ease off the pressure of being in tune all the time and embrace this stage as a time of renewal – where we have time to reflect on our next move and what we need to let go of in order to do so. If emotions and negativities are signals, this might just be what you needed to feel before you can move forward in your life.

This meditation is aimed at just that – Embracing your Self and taking the time to see your reflection:

Sit or lie in a comfortable position – try to keep your spine straight. You may choose to keep your eyes open or closed at this stage.

Begin to slowly adjust your feelings and just surrender. Whatever you are feeling right now is perfectly fine – even if you are feeling terrible! Mentally say this in your head or out loud – "I feel the way I feel – and I embrace this with my heart".

Begin to work this affirmation with your breathing – let it flow and watch as your breath works with it. Is there a pattern? Do you feel that you are beginning to relax with your breathing?

When you are ready, let your mind focus on what is in front of you. Close your eyes and in your mind, see your Self opposite you. This reflection is looking right back at you and a mirror to your body language and position – It is not just a physical reflection, it is a Self reflection and what you feel. Your Self pr-Essence.

Observe this image in your mind. Look at this image as though you are a separate person from he/she. What are you seeing? What are you feeling from them? What is the body language telling you? What are the expressions in this person's face? Evaluate their Self position right now. Take a mental note and accept them for what they are – even if you don't like what you see and feel. It's ok.

This person is your friend now. If you feel that this reflection in front of you needs love, talk to them. How would you treat a friend who is not feeling too great? Speak to this pr-Essence that is you and tell it how you feel. Your pr-Essence needs love and overstanding at this stage. While you are sitting opposite, use your heart to open up your words. Discuss what it is that you feel is the next step and explore any fears.

When you are ready, be silent and begin to imagine that you are now passing light from your heart and into the pr-Essence's heart. Feel it returning back at you. You are giving your pr-Essence love and overstanding because this is what you would do for a real friend. Do this for as long as you feel you need to.

The next stage is to see where it will take you – Some people feel that they need to continue to build with this pr-Essence further. Others feel much better and loved afterwards. All reactions are normal as there is no right way. Trust your instincts to lead you. Continue to do this meditation for as long as you need.

If you find this meditation difficult, it might take a little practice. It might be helpful to keep paper and a pen near you so you can write down your thoughts and observations. Right now, it might not make sense but it might later on. And those signals that don't seem like much during your first sessions, might just be important later on or click in place! Keep it open, your subconscious will work through it with you.

It helps to do this meditation often and any time you feel you need to send your Self some love and when you are in need of evaluating your position in your path.
