Greetings Sistas! Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I am a Labor/ Postpartum Doula Living in Brooklyn, NY. I am a proud mother of a Beautiful son 10 months old and a Wife. I love helping wombmen transition into Motherhood and look to the future when I can become a Midwife.
I believe that the Rights of Passage into motherhood is a Sacred moment that should be made as special as possible. Whether its a home-birth, hospital, or birthing center the right to birth that is in tune with the universe and the parents wishes is my goal.
Many Blessings to all the Mothers Past, Present, and Future.
Blessed Love

You are what I want to be when I grow up..
I'm new too, this site is amazing...
I may inquire you about how you came to be a Doula in the near future, it is something I've been really interested in pursuing, especially post-partum (something that's so often neglected!!!). It is such vital work that for some reason, people have either diminished or forgotten about.
Much respect for keeping the tradition on,

Give Thanks
Peace Sis,
Give Thanks for the strength that really made my day! Yes, postpartum is something that is very important in the African community and something that we don't tend to share with each other.
Any questions you have feel free.
Many Blessings!

Re: greetings
Greetings AncientSongDoula!
It's so nice to meet you. I am new as well. I am a teacher living in GA, so our lives are probably very different, LOL! Your work sounds very nurturing and fulfilling. I'm sure new mothers appreciate the spiritual support that you provide amidst all the medical jargon and machines that come with childbirth these days.
Peace,
PBJ
