Headwrapping Tips...
Fabric- Length- about a yard and a half to two yards long. Texture- if it's too silky it won't hold and it will slip off your head. Make sure it's either an african printed fabric, a stretchy cotton nit ( like t-shirt fabric) or a nitted scarf like the ones sold at: www.allthingsrasta.com
Style- There are many different styles but the traditional one is the basis for all experiments.
My Method: I start at the edge of the fabric,
behind my left ear, and wrap across my forehead to the other ear,
and go around and tuck a little in, so that it doesn't get too high, or loose or sloppy.
When I get to the height that I like.. I fold over the top,
where the empty space is on my crown, and then I tuck in the excess, in the upper most fold.
(If you have too much fabric at that point, just trim some off but only a little (so it's not too short) until you are sure how much you need to fold in.
After that it's just Practice, Relaxation and Determination.
(Note: Even veterans have a hard time with it on certain days. If your distracted, or in a hurry. Sometimes your hair texture on that day maybe different or you might have a growth spurt that can change it alittle.)
Good Luck!
