Henna Beauty

Many countries including Morocco and India have traditions of applying henna during the third trimester of pregnancy. Henna is believed to protect and bless the mother and child from any evil or malicious spirits that may be near during delivery. Special attention is given to the hands and especially the feet as they are considered to be vulnerable connections to the world. -hennacaravan.com

Henna...such a beautiful adornment! Do any of you ever use henna? If so please do share your favorite brand.shop.vendor and any other resources by leaving a comment. As I look over all of the photos of henna designs out there I think I would like to incorporate it into my way of creative living as I try to develop my sense of beauty. Traditionally most henna applications were centered around ceremonial occasions...mainly weddings. However many women used henna as a time for bonding with other women in their circle as well. They would come together and apply each others henna and share life stories and such. Wouldn't that be awesome to have a ymib henna circle! Nevertheless. I hope this post inspires some of you to at least try adorning your beauty with the art of henna at least once.

Henna Tip:To keep your henna on after application, take some lemon juice and dab a bit over the design. Let your henna paste dry for at least 6 hours or overnight overnight before peeling/rinsing off. Remember, the longer you let the paste set, the richer the color will be. You can also try sealing it with a sugar/lemon mix, or simply add some form of sugar to your paste, which can increase the intensity of the shade. Wash off once set and dry.
