Healthy Winter Drinks

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you an article I wrote about healthy winter drinks. I hope it gets you in the mood to make some good comfy warm drinks this season:). I keep forgetting that I can come here for support - promise I'll do better to remember!

Best blessings!

This winter season, I am very excited about experimenting with different holiday drinks and creating healthier versions of them. The prospect of having a nice comfy warm drink that I can also feel “good about” was more than enough motivation to do some research.

I've found a few excellent recipes that I think you should try too!

Lehigh Hospital in Allentown, PA gives four delicious versions of popular holiday treats.

Holiday Coffee

1 cup skim milk (or soy milk)
4 oz. brewed coffee (can be decaffeinated or flavored coffee)
1 small banana
1 Tbsp. dark chocolate syrup
For iced coffee, 1 handful crushed ice

Put all ingredients in a blender. Blend for 1 minute. Pour into a warm mug
or tall glass. Serve with peppermint or a cinnamon stick.

Where is the culture South Florida...?

I have been reading all the amazing blogs on the YMIB sites and hearing about sisters in NYC, the Bay Area and D.C. etc having all these amazing cultural events and inviting each other out and it has me feeling a little left out. There is so much culture in South Florida but, excluding Miami-Dade, you never here about events for us sisters to meet up and show off our creative selves.

I was born and raised in West Palm Beach and I have always found it lacking in the Arts/ entertaiment department for Black women who want more than clubbing. I moved to Miami for college and my whole world was opened up as far as culture, and socializing. There was always something new and exciting to do. I recently moved back to West Palm Beach and its like hoping off a bullet train onto a trolly. There is absolutely nowhere to go if I want to hear a little spoken word, see some soul-moving art, vibe to jazz or just be out and see my people in all there beautiful glory. I feel slighted because West Palm Beach is actually a cultural destination with venues like the Kravitz Center and the Norton Museum of Art but all the events are catered toward everybody else, if you know what I mean.
