Hi Sista's,
I finally bought a new usb-cord for my camera and was able to upload the pic of the easy an quick modest skirt I promised ages ago.

This is me wearing it but the pic is a bit overlighted due to the flash sorry.

I still haven't bought a new sewing machine there is always some other financial issue that needs my attention. Sigh! My mojo is still missing and I hope I will be able to design something soon caus I need some winter clothing!!
Have any of you finished a project? Keep this side of the forum alive LOL
Love, light & blessings,
Chayil
don't laugh...
...but since i know very little about sewing, I took on the task of securing buttons to my children's clothing. Only to have them pop off after a few wash and wears. I am inspired by you all to create something for myself, but in the meantime and tips on how to keep secure buttons?
Hopefully Soon...
I brought this really cool di-shee-kee at the flea market. I have not seen one in Sacramento since I've moved here and just had to buy one, plus I never owned one. Anywho I want to turn the shirt into the same design as this other shirt I have. Plus the colder months are coming and it will go great with my leggings and boots or my skinny leg jeans. I've decided not to take sissors to the di-shee-kee until I really know what I'm doing. But I love that skirt and I could tell the fabric has some pretty colors!!

I have had my great grandmothers and my grandmothers house dresses and I am going to make a quilt out of them! I will post photos when it is done...probably in about a month...nothing fancy, but more about the fabric and who wore it you know!
Your skirt is so cute Chayil! I know we gotta keep this section alive. Neo Sew mama just made a really cute top/dress...here is the link: http://neosewmama.typepad.com/neo_sew_mama/2008/08/ship-n-out.html

i did make a dress matter of fact for my fashion class and i wore it this weekend. i receive good responses. and i bought african fabric as well and i plan to make something simple, i'm no longer intimidated by the fabric
peace
Thanks sis
Yes it can be worn as a skirt or dress ( I wear a black top underneath it when wearing as a dress) Try to go to these pages to see the pics better http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc33/chayil_photos/100_2128.jpg and http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc33/chayil_photos/Afbeelding132.jpg
It is afrikan print well at least it is fabric made in Surinam by afrikan descendants but I have seen similar fabric in afrikanstores. The top is made from collarfabric (you know stretch tube material) I just took it in so it fit arounds my waist. It took me about 15 minutes to make the complete dress/skirt and I am planning on making more as soon as I get more fabric.
I would love to see your dress!
