We enter this Summer Solstice during a time in the Kemetic lunar calendar month of Ipt Hmt where the Tantric union of divine consorts Het Heru and Heru celebrate their love for the entire month. This can serve as a reminder that in the higher realms there is cause for celebration and if we are open to it can, despite our own challenges, know that there is order and purpose behind any discomfort. We are also in the Kemetic season of Shomu, the season of harvest. What we have put our energies into during the last cycle is now bearing fruit. That being said, collectively, we are in a deep transformative time during this particular Summer Solstice. Ra’s message to us seems to revolve around how we think about resource/abundance/scarcity and how to flow with this transformative process. This solar cycle may not be an individual one where everything is bright and cheery. It very well may be a time for inward journeying cleansing, and process.

Each time I come here, it is like cool water by a lotus and jasmine filled stream. You sisters rock!! I always look at the full moon cycle, especially the lunar eclipse as an oracle—everything that happens over that approximate three day period, if you are open will reveal rich inner personal and collective insights. The lunar eclipse energy is a heightened version of the full moon which emphasizes our relationships—how we receive and give and our connection to different aspects of our lives. An acute awareness of what is lacking emotionally often comes up during a full moon and our personal desires/needs take up most of our awareness during this time either consciously or unconsciously. To counter these sometimes difficult emotions it is a good time to celebrate what we do have positive in our lives to further implant in our genetic and our more subtle spiritual bodies a sense of joy and accomplishment so each full moon becomes a reflection of positive connection in all areas of our lives.

This picture is an astrological chart which can be found on the ceiling of the Temple of Denderah (Het Heru’s temple in southern Kemet (Egypt). She is the Divine Principle who rules astrology—She is the House of Heru—the sun). The outer circle represents the dekans or stars for each hour of the night as well as week, the next inner circle are the zodiac constellations the inner most circle are the planets; Het Heru and Heru alternate their positions of holding up the heavens as she represents the directions/elements and Heru seasonal changes.

I learned the power of understanding the language of the Cosmos through a beloved teacher who has since become an ancestor. Buzz was a student of the ancient peoples of the Americas medicine wheel. What he learned from this culture is that our deepest emotional traumas can be healed by cyclically and actively working with the 8 phases of the moon.

He was inspired to tell his students to keep a moon phase journal starting with the new moon. Over time what was discovered is that each phase corresponds to a particular age group and non-physical body where karma and wisdom are stored.

Since joining the YMIB sisterhood, I've thought about sharing my knowledge of astrology but hesitated because I don't really care for the 'sun sign' astrology approaches that you can find in any magazine, newspaper, or numerous pop culture books. If I were going to share this sacred art and science it would have to be in a way that honored the ancient Mother cultures on which it is based. The type of astrology I practice is from the ancient Mother cultures such as Dravidian/Indus Kush--some call 'Jyotish' or 'Vedic' which is based on the cycles of the moon. Also the ancient the Nile Valley cultures used moon based cosmology to mark timing for rituals and healing. It's more important in this type of astrology to understand and align with your moon sign as this is the energy you are most intimate with and gives insight as to your real path of fulfillment and bliss. In the type of astrology I practice--which is Tantric, the sun sign reveals your dharma or outer purpose. The moon your inner place of happiness. The desire to understand the workings of destiny is as old as humanity itself.
