Secret Scroll Necklace

Hello ladies!

It's been too long since I've been here! I've been feeling so much stress in my life and I went through a pretty bad time but things are really looking up now:). I'm really happy to say that:).

I wish I would have remembered that I could have come here for support! I wont forget next time, I promise:).

I have so many things to share with everyone! Instead of blogging them all at once, I'll do so over the next span of weeks so that's it's readable in chunks, lol.

First off, a good online friend of mine Monica Yocom makes these beautiful necklaces called scroll necklaces. She sent me one the other day and I've been wearing it for a 4 days or so and it's effect on me has been beautiful. Truly. It's helped me keep my dream/goals for the next month close and dear to me. You know how the power of visualization and the law of attraction work. Well, already I can see how this is working to keep me in better focus!

I wrote all about the necklaces on Bellaonline and you can check that article out here: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art58325.asp

Five Favorite Beauty Herbs

Now that summer is upon us, it's very easy to find plants all around. I've noted some great ones below that can be used to keep holistically beautiful.

I love crafting body care products in the summer particularly because you find yourself so much closer to nature. You're able to go right out to your yard, the community garden, or into the nearest forest-y area (with a trust field guide of course!) and find the plants that will help you the most.

Here are 5 favorites of mine that are very common in gardens and kitchens alike:):

Calendula A healing herb for rough or problem skin

Ginger An warming herb that gently purifies as it stimulates (Not usually found in the garden or out and about, but I had to include it since it's so easy to find and so great for the body)

Lavender A gentle cleanser and tonic for all skin types

Peppermint An astringent which clears the complexion

Rosemary An invigorating antiseptic which boosts circulation and deep cleansing

There are tons of ways to use these beauties:). Below are 2 of my own personal recipes (from the classes I teach) that are very easy and quick to make. Enjoy!

How many of us suffer from eczema? It's an all too common ailment of modern living and most of us have had some experience with it, direct or otherwise. For me, eczema has been a part of my life since I can remember. As a young girl, my mother often turned to hydrocortisone and Milk of Magnesia to provide relief. Now as a natural health proponent I turn to the many natural remedies available and receive just the same if not better results. And the added benefit is that I know I'm doing synergistic goodness for my body!

Greetings all!

Well I am very excited to be starting to post here. I'd been looking for a place to share my writings on holistic beauty that would really appreciate it - a community that was already in the know and glad for more:). And then I remembered ymib!

So after weeks of having it on my todo list, the day has finally come:). And it's a fitting day as well. There's a beautiful rain outside my window and the breeze is light and rejuvenating - a perfect day for starting something new as the old is washed away and what's left is cleansed and made fresh again.

So a little about me, I am a holistic esthetician, herbalist, makeup artist, dancer, and writer. And this is just in this version of my life:). I'm looking forward to sharing what I've learned in my journey of life.

I own a mineral makeup company, Etniq, which caters to women of color as well as dancers and other performers. It was important for me to create a line that 1. would bring ethnic women the same variety of choices for healthy makeup that others have and 2. would be long-wearing, bold and vibrant if need - be to withstand the rigors of the stage as well as everyday life, lol.
