Research Assistance Needed!!

I am working on some really great projects dealing with black women and girls. More information on these projects can be found at http://superhussy.com and http://aieshaturman.com.

The projects deal with race, class, gender and sexuality issues and in the hopes of gathering as much data as possible, I have crafted this very simple survey. All information is confidential -- I ask for no names or other identifying information, and the survey will take less than 10 minutes of your time.

The survey can be found @ http://superhussy.com/super-hussy-survey/. And while you are there, sign up for the newsletter and poke around a bit.

*Note: this survey is for women of color only. Please feel free to forward it on to anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks a million, in advance, to everyone who participates.

So, I've Done It

I think that what most of us want is certain quality of life where we can inspire, be inspired, and be our best selves while contributing to our communities in some way, shape or form.

As of this week, I am officially part time at my day job -- 2.5 days a week -- and I am moving accomplishing another goal -- teaching at the college level (which I begin next week). I will still be away from home 4 days/week (I take the little one to work on Saturdays), but by the end of June, I will only be going to work two days/week.

My daughter's school has a summer program, so beginning in July, she will see me when she gets off the bus 3 days a week. Again, I thank the heavens for her amazing school.

But that's not all. I have been working on establishing my own business that uses media to explore the black female experience, and as of yesterday, I have officially launched Super Hussy Media.

Transitions

Life is full of transitions: girl to woman, single to committed, school to work, well, you get my drift. right now, I am in the midst of a transition -- the transition into my true self. I am blessed to be employed in a capacity where I am a mentor and role model to youth, but I know that I must soon take my leave of the 9 to 5. Actually, in my case, the 10 to 6.

I need to be more fully present for my child when she steps off the school bus at 2:45 in the afternoon. Again, I am blessed. she attends a preschool that supports, embraces, nourishes and supports her. I want to be the first person she sees. I want to prepare her snack and color and do art projects with her.

I need to begin fully utilizing my talents to help create change in my local and the global community. As a wife, I need to be more present for and nurturing to my husband.

There is so much to do an so much that I want to do. The point is that I must make a plan, put it into effect, and stick with it so that I can transition to the life I desire.
