Welcome!
I haven't been on ymib for some time now. Since the last blog I have written I have been through some trying times personally and physically. I was following Queen Afua's Sacred Woman Healing process and although it worked wonders on me I haven't been able to stick with it. I am starting my first year in college and have been suffering the freshmen blues. Despite that I have vowed to take ME back from all that I've been through. I am so happy to rejoin this beautiful inspiring community once again and hope that I can stay on this path....
PEACE! and blessings!
read your blogs, your site, poems, etc. You are a little beyond your time. Practicing meditation already. Look at you. I will send you a copy of my book. but yeah, these things do start to take on a life of their own, sometimes the artist is only a means to an end. and we do more harm when we over identity. Answers reveal themselves later. As I explore myself, there is more that I can't know even in this lifetime, and being cool with that bigger mystery. guided by the unknown.
Peace and thank YOU for acknowledging my light. It's taken me a lot of hardships (some not that bad compared to other poeple's struggles) to let go and flow with things with a sense of inner peace which is , for me, recognizing the beauty in simple things that surround me and things that are soon to come and the promise that these things are somewhat promised to come into my life just because i am alive.
Thanks so much that really touched my heart! I'm glad you see where I'm coming from. Everyday is a growing and learning process for me. Locking my hair is also healing to me. Healing from lots of things in my past growing up in a family that lacked love. I told my local circle sisters once that when I cut my hair I cut off alot of bullshit and began my growth.
Also I absolutely LOVE, LOVE your work!!! It is beautiful. You have such great talent keep it up. BIG CONGRATS on your acceptance to college! Keep your head up!
May I critique?
BEAUTIFUL WORK! You are VERY talented, and to just be in highschool? get out!
Your site is very professional and lovely.
i just had one issue-your artist statement is too long
That's the first thing our professors slammed us on in undergrad and in grad school it's a constant. The reason is because people don't want to read. much. but like i said, your work is amazing and i am excited to see how much better u will get in the coming years. if you get the chance, check out my site if you haven't already. mallorydover.blogspot.com

Thank you and you have a good point. Although i do wish that poeple would read my whole statement i understand that my wishes might not always be met. I will work on condensing that statement. Thank you for the critique!
...your work is wonderful. Your thinking is on point. Your heart and your gift is precious. Please keep us posted as you travel your journey with art in hand. Bless you.
